THE GHOSTLY SPIRITS OF THE PAST

JUST BEFORE DAWN THEY COME, ONE BY ONE
THROUGH THE MISTY TIME   BETWEEN NIGHT AND SUN
MARCHING, MARCHING, SHOULDER TO SHOULDER
THE SPIRITS OF THE DEAD, YOUNG AND OLD SOULDERS,
WHOSE LIVES WERE TAKEN AWAY

NEVER TO KNOW THE JOYS OF LIFE
TO NEVER HAVE KIDS OF THEIR OWN, AND LOVING WIFE
THEY MISSED SO MUCH, ANSWERING FREEDOMS CALL
THEY MUST WONDER IF ANYONE CARES AT ALL.
LET'S TRUELY SHOW THEM THIS VETERANS DAY

ACROSS THE HORIZON, THEY KEEP MARCHING THIS WAY
BROKEN SPIRITS AND BODIES ON  DISPLAY
HELPING EACH OTHER ALONG THE WAY
WE OWE THEM A DEBT WE CAN NEVER REPAY
SO REMEMBER THEM ALL THIS VETERANS DAY
