People like their alter ego to be stroked
Just like a boiler that needs to be stoked,
They seek praise here they seek praise there
They seek praise just about everywhere.
There really is no need for them to roam
True praise comes from closest to home,
They seem to think that they need more
And those who matter they just ignore.
They think the stage is solely theirs
They go and try to sell their wares,
Silently `look at me` you hear them cry
Then they wait impatiently for a reply.
Maybe they`re feeling a little insecure
As it seems they need attention galore,
Could it be they think they`re the best
Let`s just say, a cut above the rest.
A little stroking of the ego isn`t a bad thing
But when over the top I find it quite baffling,
If the one you love strokes your ego
Then thankfully accept your status quo.
