LIVING OUTSIDE THE BOX
Four walls,
paper thin
with teeth of steel
which bite into
my surrendered flesh,
keeping a vice-like grip
on intendment of heart.
I stare,
focussing my mind
to deliver
temerity and grit.
The wherewithal
to shatter
frames of mind.
For
this flimsy box
is my tortuous prison,
holding me
to a life
far restricted
than my dreams.
My wings.
clipped
by my own making,
seek to soar
and quash
reality
of unvaried existence.
Hope,
wed to fulfilment,
exonerate
constricting habits,
hoisting wings
to their fullest.
Dreams
are unrehearsed.
