Old Road

In the beautiful mountains of NC
old roads of long ago can be found
old chimney made with rocks and mud
tell the story of a long ago home.
Under tall trees in the peace and quite
the spirit of it's long ago people
still walk around.
~(*)~(*)~(*)~(*)~(*)~

The old road with it's mud puddles
moss covered tree limbs and old leaves
and foot prints of someone
long forgotten.
Makes it's way through tall oak trees
down into the cove where a small stream
of water.Finds its way from under rocks
And the roots of an old stump. And makes
a pool of water at the side of the road.
Nearby lay an old tin dipper rusted with
age and has fingerprints of someone
long forgotten.
~(*)~(*)
still the old road goes on
off the road back in the woods aways
stands an old chimney made with rocks and mud
and covered with red roses. An old bed frame stands
in the center of four corner stones of an old house
the sun shines through the leaves on a home
of long ago. In the quiet are whispers of a
family long forgotten.
~(*)~(*)~
The old road goes on and on until
it's just a memory that has footprints
that go back in time. Some day I will
walk that old road and leave some
footprints of mine that in time.
will be forgotten
