Like two towering sentinels
They had stood for freedom
Now they are no more
America under attack
So many lives lost
At their place of work
But then came the 1st responders
Skies filled, smoke, voluminous and black
A promise was given
The people who brought this upon us
Would hear from us soon
Their cities and skies would also be Black

Just nine years later
Iraqi war was fought and won
Afghanistan war underway
Terrorism a global fact
America the melting pot
So many countries represented
We lost a diverse population
In a very evil act
An airliner from pa Hijacked
Passengers decided to rush the hijackers
Regardless if they would live or die
No more crashing of planes was their pact
