Cracker Jack Dreams
Cartier? Wishful thinking
yet it doesn't cost to dream
Or does it?
Speaking of Ice, Harry Winston came to mind
yet after doing the math we came up quite a
few dollars short
and so the dilemma came to be
Where could we get the most bang for our buck?
Sincere intentions have became our focus
of attention, but at what price?
Innocence comes to mind and so we set out
to find the ring of rings, the one to
seal the deal
Digging deep into near empty pockets
we fumble through crumbled unchecked
lottery tickets, some lint and two
quarters that probably saw a better day
Today I would part with silver and invest
in a Cracker Jack dream
Many years ago, when Grey was more Brown
and puppy love meant the world to a skinny
kid from Brooklyn, she was very much upon my mind
So much so that hundreds of boxes later that ever
elusive prize felt near and dear to my heart
Nothing less than one more roll of the dice
would capture her attention
Nervously making my way to the register I threw
caution to the wind and walked out with the
last box of Cracker jack
Inside of it would be the prize that would capture
more than a Kodak moment
It would win her heart and mine would come to
know love unlike I could ever know
Ripping through the top of the box, I shook out
the Caramel and Peanuts
Dropping from within protected by white paper
packaging with sweet kernels clinging to it
would be the ring, soon to be hers
There Love would be born forever
more
and no other ring would be worn or mean
more to her than this Cracker Jack gem
Or at least we hope so
