Yoga part 22
Yoga's main purpose is always
As a preparation for meditation.
Not the Hatha exercise regime
Practiced in the Western world.
Instead the Yoga Sutras teach
Nothing what we think of as yoga.
It teaches the ways of purification
As preparation to sit in stillness.
It is this misunderstood tool
That rests in mankind's hands;
A tool that is completely unique.
While prayer is speaking to God,
Meditation is openly listening.
In this stillness we can hear the
Voice of the Universe speak to us;
So quiet, so still, so peaceful.
Sitting in the present moment;
Unified with breath, listening…
This is what yoga is about;
For without meditation,
The poses are only fluffy clouds.
Good exercise, and relaxing, yes;
But this is only the doorway --
The gate is flung open,
Walk inside and sit quietly
Within this present moment.
