 Slivers of Peace
In the midst of a hectic week in my life,
I seek for a place of balance, of stillness.
Without the swirl, the stress, the irritations;
Seeking out those little slivers of peace.
Unable to maintain within the environment;
Long hours on the job, striving for a moment.
One grabbed here, and then another there;
Finding those little slivers of peace.
Looking within the moment, a deep breath;
A smile unexpectedly crosses my lips; I sigh.
Without meditation, without the fanfare;
Embracing those little slivers of peace.
Balance is found within those moments;
Able to maintain even within the tornado.
Life can try to isolate me from my peace;
I say no… I have my little slivers of peace.

Written in the midst of an outage at work, requiring
a lot from each of us who work there in time
and dedication. May safety and peace reign.
