Once I Dreamed...
Once I dreamed…..
Of perfect prince and noble knight,
Moon and stars to shine their light,
Puffball clouds to catch my eye,
Rainbows on a cobalt sky,
I dreamed of life without a care,
A kindred soul with love to share,
To sail upon the calmest sea,
A summer breeze to carry me,
I dreamed of love without the pain,
Sunshine days without the rain,
Painted flowers on carpets green,
With no regrets; what might have been,
Once I dreamed….
Some came true,
The moon, the stars, the skies of blue,
Those simple dreams are granted free,
In time, the rest came down to me,
The princes few and far between,
I learned that life was harsh and lean,
That time moves faster than the rain,
And love; a bittersweet refrain,
And now another phase unfolds,
The growing up and growing old,
Acceptance of what came to be,
When once I dreamed ….
