Respite!?

She's going for respite, she told me last night!
But the fact of the matter is, I don't think it is right!
She said it's for 2 weeks, and I went sick!
I felt like I had been hit in the stomach with a brick!
She said she doesn't know the details at all,
So I had to contact my brother and give him a call!
I had to ask what was happening and was it true,
He informed me it was, oh what can I do?

But it seems that the plan is not as it was to be so!
Cos it's not just for 2 weeks that she is to go!
It seems that it's forever that's she is to go!
Well, it's 99% certain, and she doesn't even know!
But doesn't know their plan! She thinks it's for a rest!
That she won't be coming home; they think it's for the best!
But they got her house for free to look after her,
It was all their idea and now it's not fair!

They built a tiny flat adjacent to the house you see,
And put her in there to care for her, as it should be!
But now they can't cope, and retract their vow,
So she's going into a home, and it's really soon now!
I found out last night, but it was planned for over a week!
But no one let me know, so now it's solace I seek!
We go every week, and it's a very long way!
3 hours journey in total, and 2 hours we stay!

Cos I'm the only daughter, it should have been me,
To look after her but my health's not too good you see.
And though I can't do much, my hubby does it all,
He doesn't mind, and does what he can when we call!
But now that won't be needed, cos she's going away,
Into a nursing home, one week from today.
Last minute I am informed, and that's really bad!
They couldn't let me know before now, and that's just sad!

It's only cos I contacted my brother today that I found out,
They've known for over a week, and they've no doubt!
...No doubt that this is the right thing for them to do,
Well it's ok for them, they're not going there too!
She is loyal to them, much more than she is to me,
But they have let her down, as you can see!
They think it's for the best, for them and for her!
But not letting me know is so unfair!

I guess she will be better off, with people about,
But the fact of the matter is; this is kill her no doubt.
She already tells me she's a burden and I say it's not true,
But now she will know she is, and there's nothing she can do!

And it's so sad...
