 Good or Bad

Two final destinations, heaven or hell
How is it determined where we dwell?
Will God say, welcome my good lad?
Then send to hell those who are bad?

God gave us the answers in the Bible
His Word is still true today and reliable
I share this from the depths of my heart
Not to judge, but only His truth to impart

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sinned
Their sin passes to everyone without end
In the very next generation Cain kills Abel
But God knew man would choose to rebel

His Word says there is no one who is good
Even listening to our conscience like we should
We are still sinners, with no levels of severity
One lie or mass murder has the same penalty

That penalty is eternal death forever in hell
The place of punishment all deserve to dwell
But God, in His mercy, provided the only way
To escape His wrath on the final judgment day

That way is the cross of Jesus, fulfilling His plan
Our substitute, paying the price for all sins of man
Placing our faith in Him alone, recognizing our sin
He freely forgives, sealing us with His Spirit within

Only the Holy Spirit reveals sin and our need of a Savior
Not whether we are good or bad, nor earning His favor
He leaves us with the choice to respond to His invitation
God desires no one to perish, but all to receive His salvation

No sin is too great, nor any person beyond His forgiveness
Instead of saying someone will go to hell due to wickedness
God asks us to pray for our enemies and forgive on our part
Until their last breath, God can change the hardest heart

Romans 3:10-12 (NIV)
As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away, they have together become
worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."

James 2:10 (NIV)
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at
just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Romans 6:23 (NIV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 13:41-42 (NIV)
The Son of Man will send out his angels, and
they will weed out of his kingdom everything
that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They
will throw them into the fiery furnace, where
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord,"
and believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your
heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Ephesians 1:13-14 (NIV)
And you also were included in Christ when you
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked
in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance
until the redemption of those who are God's
possession—to the praise of his glory.

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise,
as some understand slowness. He is patient
with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but
everyone to come to repentance.

Luke 6:27-28 (NIV)
"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who
curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
