EMPTY VESSEL

Empty arms do not become me;
I long to fill them, to place them
around those that I love…
to hold my sweetheart as we dance…
carry a gift to a friend in need…
embrace a child who needs a hug…

Empty thoughts do not become me;
I need to fill my mind, to wrap it
around learning about humanity…
to find out what makes me tick…
believing positive things will come…
to learn the lessons life can teach…

Empty heart does not become me;
I ache to fill it full, to let it spill over,
around everyone invited into my life…
to love myself as I do my neighbor…
asking that His love fuel my own…
letting love's light pour out into the world…

Empty vessel is what I began as
in this life and it did not become me;
so God filled me with the gift
of learning and love…
and I shall never
be empty again.
