Poetic Verses
Approaching Retirement
Who can remember those days when people would say
When you go to work, always put something away for that rainy day
And as you grow this was always foremost on your mind
So no matter what, efforts were made to do that most of the time.
Being ambitious, and adventurous as any youth should
Enjoying life, having fun as much as one could
But no matter what still did not forget
To squeeze out something to make that deposit
But as time progressed something becomes imminent
That time has now come to prepare for retirement
This now the situation is even now more compound
When there is that bad new of those diminishing pension funds
Now that one is getting old, that news is very cold
Like a very chilly wind blowing over the soul
Those dreams of sitting among those fragant roses and vegetable garden
Would have to be shelved because you have to keep in the working land
Perish those thoughts of going cruising and fishing
Or helping out doing volunteer work, and a little teaching
Hoping that by using that vast wealth of exprience
You can to someone make that important difference
On the way perhaps had invested some money in a company
In those time is seemed safe and was holding steady
But like all things, the dip of this depression
Made the dividends fail to make any impression.
Pehaps you also made an investment in life insurance
This now do not give any form of hope or any assurance
Because the company, in which you have faithfully made that input
Has now conveniently and oh so timely gone belly up.
This is not a situation that should not be taken quite easily
And most of all, if you are nearing that time to be a retiree
As all those stiuations, no matter the permutation or combination
Do not in all intent portray any pleasant position.
