First Impressions
I came to know where her magic comes from
and in the process left a better man for it
Though stress was a factor before they laid eyes
upon me, a sense of welcome was more than visual
it was comforting and approving
Gentle were words spoken and my heart saw where
her rivers of patience, understanding and love
were birthed from
Between the lines and years in the making theirs
would become mine and held dearly today
Their blessing became my breath of life
and I shall breathe much deeper today
knowing I have been accepted
First impressions were made and
theirs is now worn upon my heart
as well
