No Such Thing As Growing Old

To my eldest lovely son John Paul who is 44 years old today. I find it so hard to believe so he must find it impossible. 19/10/10 Love you always will son Mum xxx

I know you wonder where the time has gone
Flown by so fast the past so distant now,
Somehow seems like yesterday
You were a little lad at play.
Climbing trees with scabby knees
My voice calling you in
Amidst the din of sibling joy
Just a boy among them all.
In the hall and up the stair
There you grew and knew not where
Your time would steal away
Until today you`re forty-four.
The door of middle age ajar
Not far you think where did it go
My son, I know, how years can pass
Until at last we realize
We must be wise not waste our time
Child of mine, you are still young
So go on laddie have some fun.
Do not waste a single minute
In it you will find the truth
That youth lives on inside your soul
There`s no such thing as growing old.
