Musings by The Poet Loriet

Subliminal Messages

I barely know you,
yet as you hug me goodbye,
I blush with the knowledge
that parts of you search for me
like a leafy plant stretching
to be kissed by the sun.

I shift my weight and
pretend not to notice,
yet I can't stop thinking
about how nice it might be,
thoughts any decent girl
would be ashamed to admit,
but I'm human and it has
been a long time.

Your kisses lied to me,
platonic, friendly, innocent,
but I know your secret.
You want me, and I tuck
that information away as
I graze softly against you.

I dare to play with your fire,
to make promises to you with
lingering kisses from my hips,
hinting at things to come
after we peel away the layers
that keep us arms length away
from sensual liasions.

We both know it's not time yet,
but can I ask you to please...
           hold that thought.
