Obesity
Today, indications are that we enjoy a better standard of living
Could this situation, be the cause of some of our problems?
This now gives many, a better income to dispose
But be sedentary and eating seems to be the main recourse.
Instead of preparing the children, to embark on saving
Or invest their cash. into something that will pay a dividend
They will gather at the malls, and those fast food places
Smoking, eating and drinking, all smile on their faces.
Now all this is replace over sometime
By a frown and a general spreading of the midline
So rotund, and then also that glowing fear of obesity
Which in now being a grave concern in many a developed and developing country.
Who would like to see its young and vibrant generation
Being afflicted by diabetes, hypertension and cardiac conditions
So how come even though there are so any food choices around
They eat abundantly and yet there is that sign of malnutition.
Like most things, society may apportion blame
On the advertisers, and the dietary choices of those food chains
But in all fairness, they never put a gun to anyone's head
Is it not the consumer's responsibility, to exercise discipline instead?
What about parents, they too should be responsible?
They should also monitor what is served at the table
Make sure that all is healthy, when they make those dietary choices
And for emphasis try to institute some rostered family exercises.
A friend of mine doctor sometime ago told him. Look !
If you want to live longer, better eat only what you cook
This combination of you diet and job, most certainly
Will make you quite soon a statisic in the obituary.
There is still a place and a great necessity, for those fast food chains
They are not totally responsible for those with all those obesity pains
