Friend's Cancer
One morning after my return from a usual walk
A friend called me, so I went over to talk.
On arriving she appeared so withdrawn and seem in the dump
Then in such a shaky voice, said she had found a breat lump.
She said that what was indeed her greatest fear
Ont the examination performed the previous day it was not there.
Now all of a sudden, it is now an ominous presence
In the upper outer quadrant, at the very instance.
After listening, my advice was, here is my opinion
Let us go to the doctor for a solution to the problem
He will may recommend some tests, and the diagnosis
Will one way or the other design the probable prognosis.
An appointment was booked for a particular time for surgery
FNA was done, as well as frozen section and biopsy
The frozen section proved to be positive for cancer
This now present a very serious and challenging matter.
As expected I know that being human she would be devastated and upset
Using my experience, I tried to cushion the shock in that aspect
Alerting her to the options, about other tests, such a tumor markers
The results would indicate the treatment modalities for the cancer.
As time progressed she made some changes in life style
Such as diet, more exercise and spent some time in the sun for a while
Spending time with and giving assurance to those in a similar situation
There seem to be now more joy in her life since the affliction.
