YOUR LAST MILE

YOUR LAST MILE

Our paths are covered over with the elementary things
Landscapes of laughter are now captured in yellow
You see, tomorrow is now; time has written us mellow

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There're no bridges to burn; we burned them in stages
Cruising highways; double lining thru life's game
Acting Dantesque; accomplishing neither fortune nor fame
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Look ahead, just over the hill; do you see the ray of light?
What's that you say?  You can't face death without a tear?
We are the wind; stop and listen; the message is clear

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our eyelids are covered with dust; from nostalgic effigies
Can you touch them? No, they're figments of imagination
Wrap your arms around what is; it's your final destination
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please, do not weep; take his nail scarred hands
Oh yes, I see them; close your eyes now; leave me a smile
Well, yes, I am crying; I'll be with you, on this your last mile
                                                                  Hush now; take my hand

Votre Dernier Mille
