Those Shoes - That Day!

Well I have to tell a story - and tell it true,
Cos I've laughed my head off, I bet you will too!
One day I was looking for lovely pair of shoes,
Loads of them new in stock! And not easy to chose!
So I saw this pair and tried them on,
I decided to buy them, the deed was done!
‘Oh what are you doing my mate said to me?!'
I said; ‘I'm buying shoes as you can surely see!'

My mate said to me, ‘do you need them?!' (She's a pain!)
‘Cos you've already got some and you're spending again!
And I said to her; ‘no, I don't, not at all!'
‘But I deserve them, and this is my call!'
But I felt a bit guilty, cos I didn't really need more,
Then again, they don't wear out unless you walk on a floor!
So I told my mate, ‘you know what?'
‘It doesn't matter how many pair I've got!'

‘Cos if I waited for my shoes to wear out!'
‘I wouldn't need any, there is no doubt!'
Cos you see it's like this, I use a wheelchair,
So my shoes are all ‘new' and in a way, not fair!
When she asked if I needed them, I said her ‘no,'
‘Just because mine don't wear out and don't look a show!'
‘Doesn't mean I can't buy more, all up to date,'
‘Wear them on my feet, so they look great!'

So I looked at my mate, and told her that!
And she sheepishly said that she was a brat!
So since that day she has never said it again!
And it's just as well, cos I'd go insane!
But that day in question I put them back on the shelf,
Walked out of the door, all by myself.
Cos my mate was behind me, smiling away,
But I wasn't smiling, it had ruined my day!

At home I decided, I would have those shoes!
So I went back a few days later, and I got the blues!
They had all gone, they had sold out what a pain!
And I was gutted; ousted out of them again!
So next time I saw my mate, I told my tale,
She said she felt awful, hmm, she did go pale?
But a few weeks later I went in for a look!
And there they were, held up by a hook!!

So I grabbed them fast, not to be outdone again!
And told my mate all about my gain!
She said she felt really bad about that day,
But I told her she shouldn't, it was all ok!
I'd put them back, it was my fault in the end!
And truly I wouldn't upset my friend!
And in the end I got them, no loss there!
At the end of the day, everything's fair!

And they are lovely!!
