Tomas
Some countries in the region got a surprising blast
By none other by a system name Tomas
Thought not designated one of such a high category
By now one can see he did some damage infrastructually.
In a particular country some said they got caught by surprise
Perhaps distrated by their leader's demise
Others said the thing that really caught their eyes
By the sudden and how quickly the darkness covered the skies.
Though it passed that land in the form of a storm
There was some concern and cause for alarm
And those calling the airways said in all earnesty
That all or part of their roofs have been blown off completely
Roadways were blocked by trunks and branches of fallen trees
Which on descent broke the wires loaded with electricity
Wind blowing with such force and with a velocity
Water flowing rapidly, howling as it makes it way to the sea.
Then on the airwaves one can hear some desperate pleas
As people have to move to upstairs to the second story
Then up the stairs the water level was rising
And as they looked through the windows it is only water they were seeing.
What surprise me and what I considered to be uncaring
Some people in the aftermath of an acute weather system
Were complaining about their perceived tradiness of the utility companies
Because the downtime have deprived them of some luxuries.
But how could people get so insensitive
In a situation which was both disruptive and destructive
Wanting those companies to come out to effect some repair
When the disaster committee did not issue an all clear.
By why complain about not getting light and water
Compared with some others, they were much better
They still have a house in tack with no great loss
Whilst those around them, had many of their roofs off.
But why too did they not make some personal preparation
Like storing matches, oil, lamps and water for such a situation
Even in this state they will take the opportunity
To blame someone, not themselves for being tardy.
Perhaps they may not be complaining about such anymore
Because they would have heard of the damage done to the islands next door
They have been beaten, battered, drenched and really shattered
So be happy for that little inconvenience consider that as being spared.
