 once upon a time

Old glory calling me home.
No choice had to go-you called Lord.
Here I am, unwillingly.
I wish you had let me bid my friends goodbye.
They'll think it strange not hearing my chuckling.
Ach well, when those trumpets blow got no choice, I've gotta go.

Gotta follow that sound, I hear my wife Maggie crying aloud
'Brian, Brian, my childer, and granchilder'
They cry out to me whilst here I lie casket bound.
Can't reach out to reassure them I'm okay,
Heard the sound of glories horn gotta go and look around,
Judge for myself the truth of eternity.
Old glory's trumpeters have blown the gates wide open,
letting me see were I'm bound.

Don't worry about me, I'll be around.
Now if you would all HUSH awhile- listen to my chuckle.
Say a quiet prayer - it'll help me on my way.
Maggie will say 'Brian's still here, though'.
When she looks around it causes a tear to fall
Brian's not in his usual chair.
, I've no choice, gotta go.
Old Glory's called me home.
Quietly I go and leave you with this thought.
'I love you, one and all'.

This is written about my big brother Brian who died suddenly on the 29 of October.
Maggie is his wife of 50 years. He will be sorely missed.
If anyone had a problem and asked him for help they heard that immortal phrase of his
'Na bother' They knew all would be sorted out by Brian.
MY BIG BROTHER.
[His wee Brother Seany Mc Guckin]
