Across the wide expanse of azure sky,
the seagulls wing their way to cruise the sea
in search of any morsel leaping high;
fast-snatching easy meals as they sweep by.
Soon up and out beyond the jutting key,
the seagulls fly and smoothly make a turn.
They head back toward the glassy, open sea;
at times their meals are earned, but most are free.
They often squawk and call out as they spurn
the people on the beach who look around,
distracted by their sound. The 'Sneaks' return
and steal their food. Good grief, you'd think we'd learn!
In groups of three, they catch the draft and rise;
their bellies filled with fish, hotdogs, and fries.
