Words lost in the silence

Many words once spoken now lost in the silence
there is no one that will listen, all eager for war
and the soft words once used to speak of life's beauty
now hidden from sunlight like never before…
our newspapers and media all fashioned for headlines
each daily disaster printed loud for our eyes
while caring only for profits from adverts and cash sales
caring nothing for those lives that hope has denied…
our intellectual's speak words that no one can follow
confusing each issue for those of us less wise
till wrong becomes right, never counting each victim
till that man in the mirror is the man you despise…
we must look beyond the truth that's denied us
and the words that lay hidden, expose to the light
for the beauty in words finds the beauty within us
while the silence brings only the darkness of night.
