 Whacked in the Head
Yesterday I had a little accident
It was a rather strange incident
I had been to lunch with a friend
She brought me home at the end

I had left my car parked outside
I opened the door, reaching inside
Then used the garage door control
In order to raise and lift up the door

As I proceeded to walk straight ahead
The garage door whacked me in the head
I staggered and knew I was falling down
I reduced the impact using my left palm

My friend heard how hard I had hit
I got up after landing on the cement
I told her then I was going to be okay
She said to put ice on it right away

I had a small package of frozen food
Which served the purpose just as good
Later, I took two Tylenol for the pain
My head still hurt, no relief did I gain

Finally I called my friend to go to the ER
Five short minutes she picked me up here
Their exam showed I had two contusions
I was grateful I did not have a concussion

They gave me verbal and written instructions
For the first 12-24 hours to take precautions
If my symptoms got worse I was to go back
For a CT-scan and further evaluation check

God protected me through the whole night
Letting me know I was going to be all right
Upon their advice, I stayed off work today
Not yet comfortable with driving anyway

I sense this was God's warning and test
For I had not been getting adequate rest
I need to take my health more seriously
In other ways, treating my body properly
