In a crowd
at a parade
How do you know
you are seeing a veteran
Most of us bow and hold
our hand over our heart
When the flag passes by
One old man salutes
every flag passing by
he is a Veteran
At my Granddaughter Vollyball game
They play the national anthom
In the stand they hold
a hand over their hearts
I look across the gym
Two of us are saluting the flag
I know him as a fellow Veteran
We not only honor the flag
Are there to see it forever waves
Freeom is not free it is earned
By those brave men who
would give up their lives
so we may forever be free
