Those enigmatic savages was how we were depicted,
Some absurd Viking myths upon us were inflicted,
Superior to the Saxons, a match for the Romans too,
Preferring freedom to civilisation our culture to us true,
Historians are now discovering a very rich tapestry indeed,
Although artistic and independent we became a lost breed,
Known as the "attractive lost people" that history forgot
The first half of the Millennium our superiority was caught.
Archaeologists found chalices and vellum, on a monastery site.
Religious artefacts, stone carvings displaying our cultural might,
Their buildings and wall construction were eons ahead of its time,
Sophisticated carvings and inscriptions that were simply sublime,
The Picts and the Scots joined for Caledonia to evolve,
This created a proud nation but with problems still to solve,
The Vikings and the English created us centuries of strife,
Because I'm unique and a Pict it shapes my outlook on life
