Joe didn't have
faith in tomorrow
but he would
never complain,
he drowned his sorrow...
with rose once again.
He was never much
for a crowd
he stayed
pretty much alone,
and fate
had never allowed
a place for him
to call home.
Sleeping in a corner
when one he could find,
or maybe a shelter
if someone was kind.
Never bothered
another person
was a loner they say,
he didn't want to burden
anyone along the way.
He always had
a smile to see
for those he came across,
though his troubles
were many
being cheerful was
never at a loss.
They found him
one day froze
at 12th and vine
what a sight,
his fingers stiff but to rose
he held on tight.
A half empty bottle
was lying
of wild irish rose
his 1 treasure,
they all just stood crying
asking how
could this occur.
He had no heartbeat
like he was frozen in time,
his love for her
was so sweet
but also a crime.
He should have had better
much better God knows,
but at least he had her
for those times with his rose!
