Give Thanks
The days ahead will lead all to
A banquet grand and travelers too
Arrive where warmth of fires glow
Welcome family and friends in tow
The staples cooked and basted in
Pure love of heart for years have been
The reason why all gather near
To share of grace given quite clear
Of Turkey and stuffing to date
Of cranberry and greens on plate
Where pumpkin pie and sweet potato
Join with gravy upon grand table
War stories swapped before sitting
Of life and love also befitting
Where child and laughter echo throughout
Upon this day that's come about
Warm embraces will be too given
As doorbell rings and knocks forgiving
Will bring both young and old this day
Partaking of this holiday
Anticipation with mouths watered
Tasting of fair where someone bothered
Cooking all day to bring to table
The best of them as they were able
Often remember what use to be
More than often inside of me
Where family love always was bared
Upon this day portions theirs shared
To you who reads this simple write
Remember to give thanks this night
To GOD who made this day to see
How blessed you are, loved family
