Through every stitch a story birthed
Patches of life while here on Earth
And like a quilt spread over time
We all shall leave something behind
A piece of us on every soul
A moment brief or episode
Of love, laughter that will take hold
Piecing our stay, upon here told
Each second sewn and sown to bring
As time allowed an offering
Of sorts, of grief, hunger to live
Of time given, granted to give
Patterns will vary, as each of us
Unique will walk through life a must
Our separate ways and through it all
We leave our names etched upon life's wall
These walls unseen that lay within
The hearts and minds where we begin
To love on those and who loved you
Another part of life's quilt too
Some will produce, leaving their seed
To procreate, to intercede
On their behalf, to tell of tales
Of this patched work, when onward souls all too set sail
