Neighbours

A neighbour once told me “of neighbours beware”!
‘they'll welcome you arriving
then wish you'd disappear
they'll borrow all you slaved for
then swear they didn't know
of the hose they borrowed last year
for their tree that didn't grow
then they'll twist the truth to answer
till the lie becomes complete
the “hose” they used was never mine
it was from his old mate “Pete”
God forbid if you should argue of the merits of their ways
they'll castigate you freely
claiming it was you that should not stay
they'll make up lies about your character
claiming your nothing but a jerk
but its them that's claiming benefits
while secretly they work
good neighbours are a blessing, trust me I do know
the place I live is a nightmare
full of brain dead living souls'.

Do you know the feeling?
