Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

My darkened thoughts.

Sometimes I am raised above my darkened thoughts
and returned to a time of innocence
when the beautiful blue sky was just blue and beautiful
there were no darkened clouds on the horizon
nor hidden metaphors of doom written in the trails
of far away jets criss crossing the sky
everything was as it should be…
until I grew and learned of this place called darkness
where confusion reigns in my mind and with every thought
bombs exploding…
children starving…
nations fighting a war where only greed becomes the victor
how could I have come from innocence to this?
how could the fragrance of summer so easily fade
till all that's left is the stench of rotting flesh on a battlefield?
I have grown much and learned so much more
learned that sometimes I can raise above my darkened thoughts
to a time when the beautiful blue sky was just blue and beautiful.
