Advent Poem
Once, when sitting in deep thought,
The voice of the sky said to me
“Your names will confuse and mislead you.”
I laughed, “You got that one right…”
Christian, Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Humanist...
The dance doesn't stop…and Love seems to be road kill on the religious highway
As we play our desperate human games with dollars, bombs and guns…
--And the dead.
Pharaoh, Herod and the Taliban slaughter the innocents for God
And the wail of mothers through out history join the moans of the Blessed Virgin
At the foot of the cross…
“The way that can be named is not the real way.” Said Lao Tzu…
The real way is love and it is not a name…it is a way of being
First to your self and then to others…
Although the two are one and the same
The ultimate mystery we call God does not see you
As separate from all the others. We are part of the human stew
And the pot is still boiling-
Are you road kill or are you love…?
