Poetic Verses

Relics

If anything is to last anybody for many a year
Of it take time to cherish, service and show that care
Today we change because there is now an updated model
That the manufacturers have placed at our disposal.

I have great admirations, for those who take great pain
To keep those relics working, in the manner when them, they attain
There were those days I would visit's this old man's home
Because of my fascination with his well conditioned gramophone

He would let me with my hand turn the handle to crank
Then he would into his armchair, gladly sank
After putting on this large vinyl record disc
And as the music play, will sit and happily reminisce.

There was also one of those old telephones
Still fixed to the wall of his little home
There too I also  did see one of those old black rotary
Those phones were sturdy, and took many falls repeatedly.

My grandmother had a refrigerator, that worked like a dream
The power the drove it was that generated by kerosene
It worked without  never dropping temperature, not for an hour
So our things were still cold, when the others lost electric power

There were times, when cars with spoked wheels were on the road
People could get a ride, by holding and standing on those running boards
All those things were so fascinating to see
What comparative thoughts, to be on the mind from then to currently.

Those guys who were fortunate to see an Older James Bond movie
In that moment came back home, overwhelmed by the technology
Today's youngsters would have now laughed in their faces
Because such technolgy  is antiquated and has now been replaced.

But I am sure it will generate some interest, so instantaneously
If the youngstes were exposed to some of these relics, to see
This will surely give some incite into that time in history
Then they would be able to appreciate the changes so progressively.
