It is Beautiful

Kindly do not look at me like something to abhor
In the past people of my texture, were sunjected to much horror
Being victimised, terrorized, ostracised as like in a well orchestrated plan
Not trying to understand me, but only because my skin was of such a heavy tan.

Brutally and uncaring uprooting, my people thus spreading and creating a diaspora
In many parts of the world. separating families, putting some in another area
And what make it worse, any life could be taken, just by the wave of a finger
It was apparent that the dogs and horses, fared very much better.

Even after that act, which herald in the period of emancipation
Those who called it free, but what, was still a creature of the plantation
No burden of slavery, but it was a true and accepted fact
That only know plantation life, was still on the track

Who could remember that era when there was something called apartheid
There was blatant segregation. and thing were labeled and set aside
For a set of people in a country, whose skin tone made them so privilege
There was no mistaking, this was a display to the world, such opened prejudice

When world pressure eventually, force it to be broken down
It seem as though, this has still left some problems
Because how come that in that era, there was such prosperity
Perhaps there was exploitation, as there had to be some disparity.

Then there was the time when there were such flying of sparks
Kindled by that adamant stand, of a lady called Rosa Parks
Standing up for her rights, refusing to budge, and held her ground
As she took a firm stand against what was then a custom.

What followed then was a black boycott. of a transport system
This now  demonsrated how important, black was to them
Out of this came a champion a King, who came to light
As he stood up quite strongly, for that movement of Civil Rights.

Yes we know there are stil some undertones, that appear so benign
There are moments very subtly, but we let is go some of the times
As we become more aware, as black, we will now be present  everywhere
Letting our children know, that black is beautiful, this is something to revere.
