Did you ever dream of your own Pirate Island?
Vendovi Island was my childhood hideaway
Seattle Time headlines, "Ever want to own a private island?"
Vendovi Islands on San Juan's up for sale to public
Oh yes, from my youth I know the island well
I remember when it sold for $10,000
Doc owned the island we kids played on it
Doc was my Dad's neighbor and friend
Ad said, "It even has it's own private tree house!"
Just boys we built the tree house to look for Pirates
And yes, real pirates once inhabited the Island
The rumor being treasures bounty hidden in caves
Next door was Hat island one eyed Jack lived
The braver of us kids would actually boat to Hat Island
Pointed sticks--straw hats, we were shipwrecked
On hat island you would hear Jack following you
As we grew older the sticks became twenty two rifles
We were Followed about the bay by monster whales
The Pirates were imagination the whales were real
The imaginary monsters wild rabbits and deer
Often we would find tracks a deer a bear or Jack
In the winter with Dad and Doc we would bring supplies
Yes, the island has a secluded beach and house
A boating ramp and a year round caretaker
OH boy, where can I bid for my childhood Island?
But something has been added since we were kids
A four bedroom home, a boathouse and a price tag
Turned down was a bid of three and a half million
Vendovi Island for me well always be a memory of childhood
