Author's note: This poem has been written to honor the son of a dear friend of mine, who recently learned at the young age of 17 that he has Hodgkin's lymphoma. David Jake has an incredible dad and a loving and supportive family, which has enabled him to adopt a positive, can-do attitude in facing this battle.
May God bless him and us all.
Bright eyed boy
With raven hair
Angels keep you
In their care
Through this war
You bravely wage
From your book
We take a page
Faced with fear
You won't give up
God's own Hand
Will fill your cup
Keep positive
As is your way
Give Him thanks
For each new day
This boy, now man
Who takes your place
Has challenges
That he must face
With Spirit's sword
Held deep within
Against this foe
You'll fight and win
Then in victory
His name you'll shout
And all will know
What Faith's about
So, bright eyed boy
With raven hair
I'll keep you ever
In my prayers
