The power of words are massive!
They can move the mountain that stands strong,
And make the storm vanish!
And hopefully bring peace which we long!
I pray for peace each and every night,
And I say a prayer for the troops at war;
And ask my God in the dark of night…
To please tell me what it's all for!
Because I have no idea why?
Why some people want to make war not love!
Why they cause hurt and devastation!
I ask this each night of God above!
But I have no reply just yet,
I guess He's too busy a tad just now,
But I know He listens to my prayers,
And will help ease the frown from my brow.
For I wear a permanent frown!
Well, to me that's how I feel…
I hate this war and murder!
It feels so terribly surreal!
Murder, a powerful word that's true!
But war? Well that's all it is all about!
Its murder in the first degree!
War is an excuse for it, there's no doubt!
But who will pay the price for that?
For the lives snuffed out because of these wars?
I shall tell you true, I shall!
Not the war-mongers who sit behind closed doors!
Sit safe in the smug knowledge they will reap;
The ‘reward' of those who lay down their life!
The fat cats who dish out the orders!
Those who live without this terrible strife!
This strife that every parent lives,
Knowing their kids are risking life and limb!
And tell me, what's it all for?
Because in war, no-one can ever win!!!!
But they sit there smiling smugly,
Knowing 'they' don't have to fight this war!
And knowing it's our kids out there!
Some laying in the dirt, dead on the floor!
I hope they can live with their decisions!
And I hope it rests heavy upon their head!
And I hope they never forget...!
Every one of the troops who are dead!!!
While they sit in a safe environment!
Others are out fighting their war!
And still we get no answers from anyone!
What all the fighting and killings are for!
The power of words, the power of prayer:
They are the strength we really need...
So I pray, and always will...
For peace to reign; and death to greed!
