Poetry For Everyday People

Getting Home

Put twenty dollars in gas,
gotta quarter of a tank,

I turned the radio up
load as it can,

"the times they are changing"

I slowed down
to pay a dollar in tolls,

stopped at the store
for milk, a six pack
and cheese,

for
grilled cheese sandwiches
to go with the tomato soup.
