In Jesus, I am now set free
Only by His grace and mercy
I once was lost in my sin
Now His Spirit lives within
I am His child for eternity
This I know with certainty
He found me and I believed
His free gift I have received
Not by good things I have done
But only by the death of His Son
Scars of my sins were washed away
By His cleansing blood on that day
Freed from penalty and slavery to sin
By the power of the Holy Spirit within
Not bound by a set of rules or regulations
But to experience the joy of His salvation
As the new year dawns, I will not fear
God holds the future, He is always near
I will trust Him for what He has in store
His blessings are abundant forevermore
Even through trials I may not understand
God will carry me each day by His plan
I will not give in to Satan's tactics of defeat
But instead lay all my burdens at His feet
If I focus on my circumstances, I will fail
Leading to anxiety and worry that prevails
But fixing my eyes on Jesus, I have victory
Trusting Him to work it out for His glory
While I still greatly miss my earthly family
Jesus is my only hope and eternal security
I know I would not be writing poetry today
If His plans for me had not prepared the way

LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give
you a future and a hope.
