Each one shimmered of better days
Many an eye and face displayed
Upon her dress attention paid
Somewhat now gone upon mind plays
Mascara lines grace eyelids aged
Time once grand on face engaged
Slaying many a heart that raged
With lustful want, that never stayed
She was a lady of ill repute
And at her door many a suit
Would come to call, kept company
Where pockets full, left quickly empty
Her dress would greet many a sailor
Soldiers, small fortunes also too tailor
To keep sequins all in their place
A visual aid, lovers blind traced
Her trade would lose interest and stock
Plummet as market, costume like rock
Grew old as did that shimmering dress
Sequins once bright, smudged now, loved less
She still holds to fond memories
Of one special, her heart decrees
That cared not of the things she did
Became what life would too forbid
Her heart still keeps and skips a beat
Of Him she met but not repeat
For of the cloth this man would be
Committed to work, his destiny
This night would be her last at rest
Became of her, life meaning less
Fond chapter hers a fairy tale
Where love once knocked but also failed
To capture him of innocence
With last breath drawn, shy of repentance
