I ask Him often in the dark of night,
Tell Him my heartache at my saddened plight.
Pray that He will help me to understand,
How things can pain when they get out of hand.
I ask Him why things are so sad in life,
And why is it we all have to suffer such strife.
I pray for the strength to help me through,
And I cry in pain when I don't know what to do.
I ask Him to explain to me as only He can,
Why we get so hurt in life by a selfish man.
And I cry in my bed, when I am alone,
Wishing that he would try to come home!
I ask Him to help me and for me to understand,
Why things in life don't go as we planned.
And when I cry out in the wilderness so sad and blue,
At the cruelty of life and the pain that I go through!
I ask Him if these things that happen to me,
Are for a reason that He doesn't want me to see!
I whisper in the dark for him to give me peace,
To help my plight, for my pain to cease…!
I ask Him to help me to carry me through,
And ask Him to guide me in what I can do!
When the whispers in my head hurt me so…
And I want them to release me, to let me go!
I ask Him each night, as I give it up to Him,
To ease my plight and help me to win!
And to give me the constitution to help me deal;
With things so hurtful and the deep pain I feel!
I ask Him, I do, I ask of Him – please…
Don't let this burden bring me to my knees.
All that I want is a heart that's so strong and true,
To help me deal with life and the hurt we go through!
I ask Him to intervene and to carry me high…
When in the darkened room, alone at night I cry…
But I hear nothing…nothing at all…
Does this icon, this God even hear my call?
