The  West Indies  Cricket Team

That era when the West Indies team dominated test cricket
It was a joy to see its players batting at the wicket
From Lords to Bombay, from Adelaide to the grounds of Pakistan
The West Indies was the team that was in great demand.

Many most certainly remember the magnificence of that meastro Sobers
Whose mastery and artistry, displayed in the game were like wonders
His domination of the game was something his did all around
That even after he has retired, his name is still on many tongue.

Then there was the elegance of Rowe, Fredericks playing through backward square
Richards and LLoyd, on bowlers they were merciless and severe
Greenidge notes for his square cuts, Richardson for his hooks
Dujon and Gomes just play those roles of being the blocking props.

In the field their movements made the mind really boggles
There were fielders, who nothing could by pass when in the covers
These were the hallmark of many of their victories in matches
Because if their agility, held some of the most spectacular catches.

Something of notes was the battery of very fast and accurate bowlers
Holding who would glide elegantly in, to deliver his torpedoes
Roberts pounding the ground as he came in with his strides
But for the batsman, within themselves only fear and terror resides.

There was that tall man Garner, with his lifters and yorkers
Also Croft, who also did not make any batsman feel any easier
Then there was Marshall who slide quickly off the wicket
Ambrose and Walsh, were the last two of this amazing pacquet.

Then certain adminstrators and former players elsewhere start to complain
This use of four fast bowlers is not good for the game
Bringing all rules and regulation and stipulations, for the game to play
Even though the team was victorious in a few days any way,

But what is so ironic today, those criers are now doing well today
There are no rules or complaints about  the way the game is to play
The team that was once in the ascendancy, in now being beaten
Personally it is not pleasing, as a fan, to see this continuing to happen.
