Once Upon A Child's Dream

Once upon a child's dream
Ladders rose and fell
Licking Heaven's golden realm
Then dropping into hell.

Undisciplined colors merged
Gently into the gray
Not a bright and cheerful scape
For a child, lost, to play.

A broken spirit frolicked there
Amid the whispering tears
A writers dream was sown that night
Watered then, with joy and fear.

A tiny scrap of paper
Scripted by a child's hand
Gave birth to the vision
That few could understand.

The child hid the scraps of paper
Away for years, and then,
Once upon a woman's dream
She began to pen.

A dream-scape for her children
She laid down in blue ink
A playground of bright memories
She never stopped to think.

That a broken spirit frolicked there
Amid the thundering tears
That her child's dream was sown that night
Watered then, with joy and fear.

She found a tiny scrap of paper
Scripted in her child's hand
That gave birth to his vision
That few could understand.
