Ask me if I would change my past
Or let it remain as it is steadfast
That is, of course, if I possibly could
And the answer is, of course I would!
I`d re-write it down to the last letter
I`d try to make it ten times better,
I`d replace the bad with the good
To make everything happy if I could.
There`d be no sad times in my re-write
I would make all the wrong things right,
Not just a smile but laughter instead
And no tears would ever be shed.
No pain to be felt second time round
And no heartache ever to be found,
I`d do what I should have - but didn`t
And not do what I shouldn`t - but did.
Some things I`d like to stay the same
And that is our love I must proclaim
For the test of time it has withstood
But the rest I`d re-write…..if I could.
