 A January Day
January always brings out the pessimism
The drizzle of rain, washes away optimism
It was in January, under grey skies and rain
Walking to work to get the train
When it suddenly hit me, life and it's path
And like a man who doesn't get the joke, I laugh
They say the pain eases with time. It's a lie!
God forever help me, I try, oh I try!
But with my sadness comes happiness
I think in a strange way, I'd call it progress!
I have always lived a life of a bohemian
I know it sound cliché, but a social chameleon
Done what I want, taken the consequence
Never been one to sit on the fence
But my fence got smashed when you died
My soul, my heart, my life, was fried
Like a broken egg, burnt and scrambled
A boy lost, weakened and very troubled
But within this time of darkness and gloom
I have seen a light amongst this doom
Yes I have seen death, but I have also seen life
Like a shadow of purgatory cut with a knife
But life is flourishing in our family
It's just kills me, that you can't see
And now I see life grow and grow
Soon they will be children no more I know
As adults they will create their own journeys
And form their own memories
I will grow old, and pass from this world
And my life will be a memory told
Until that memory fades away
Amongst the drizzle of a January day...
