Family Parable (Part One) Introduction

There was a son named John
He still loved his father, Don
Even through abuse as a lad
Punished when not even bad

John met Sally and fell in love
She was God's gift from above
Soon their son Tom was born
Don's only grandson he adored

Tom did very well in school
Strived to live the golden rule
Athletic, he excelled in sports
Especially the basketball court

So when chosen to be on the NBA
It came as no big surprise that day
His scholarship would take Tom far
They celebrated by giving him a car

That fall Tom would move to Houston
An adjustment of an empty house soon
Yet his parents were so happy and proud
Tom was journeying on to higher ground

Tom sought a summer job without success
But he did not allow it to cause him stress
With money he saved and set aside already
Now was his time with friends and family
