A mother lights another candle
By prayer unto her faith is strong
Her words will shine like a beacon unto the night
The tiny candle is placed in the window
Five years old she was
Disappeared in the quiet of the night
A mother sits by the window
Remembering
A smile, a giggle, a cry
She is a mother who waits
For her little one to come home
Another mother and another mother and another mother...
There are so many candles lit this night
From windows
The beacons crisscross and puzzle amongst the stars
A mother lights another candle
Places it in the window
Call her the "Every-Mother" who waits this night
And every night
She looks over a sea of flickering hopes and wishes
Each shines in the darkness
Of dreams come true
Will her one little candle shine bright enough?
For little Sally,
Frankie,
Johnny,
Crystal,
Paul or Mary to come home
Safe and sound this night
Her mind is steadfast to the fact,
Her child is alive!
Her heart explodes at the thought
Her baby is dead!
So she gets another candle
As she strikes that match,
She whispers,
"I am a Mother who waits another night".
