I awoke to the room filled with dark clouds
trying to switch on a light that didn't work
i screamed daddy help me i wasn't sure
five years old i didn't know fire
through the door he came and pulled me out
out into the cold night air
shuffled me into the truck to get away
down the end of the long drive to wait
the house was ablaze
my daddy where was he i couldn't see him
the fire trucks came the ambulances came
they took my daddy away and fought the flames
for all this trouble they gave me a bear
little and brown wearing overalls
i didn't care for the bear at all
I wanted my daddy and my warm bed
my briefcase toy as it was i had just gotten
What was happening to my life i didn't know
shuffled from place to place waiting
what seemed like forever my family was torn apart
we got a new home and daddy came back
the flames only destroyed for a while
what we had
flames only took a small part is what they say
it shattered our lives nothing was ever the same
memories never leave young or old they stay
forgive comes to mind for this
how you wonder for such a horrible act
tried to take life and couldn't succeed
caution to those who wonder around
things are never the same
