Once I sang a lullaby to you
As I rocked you slowly in this chair
I held you in my arms as a father can
Though my child you were not there
So many visions danced through my heart
I touched your soft skin of beautiful ivory
I looked into those innocent baby blues
I saw love in your heavenly blue eyes
Your tiny fingers did reach for me
Lovingly I took your little hand in mine
I tickled your toes just to hear your voice
Heavenly as chimes and Angels whispering
I drifted off to sleep with you, in this chair
Content in dreaming of days yet to come
When I would hold you in my arms
I'd hum a lullaby to you and your mommy sang
I remember like it was yesterday my little love
Though now my little one you're no longer here
I can not sing that lullaby once again like before
When I rocked my child, in my arms, in this chair
I sang a lullaby to my dream, to my child; once...
Touching your beautiful skin of ivory so soft, warm
Your little hand into mine, you wrapped it around my finger
Mommy and daddy dream often of the coming of days
Even though my little one, You're no longer here in my arms...
